The world revolutions have turned millions of spare hours (but not as many spare hours as we recently had) into time spent connecting with past and present technologies with the aim of contentment.
Meditation, harp playing, gardening, yoga, massage, all manner of things to help keep us on the path and our heads above water. And one of those ancient technologies that creates connectedness is Yoga but ironically yoga has created a lot of separatism by not having the breath as a pivotal principle of the practice.
Before BKS Iyengar went to USA, Hatha Yoga was body, breath, mind, movement, and the principles as passed down by Krishnamacharya. So yoga studios give poses to people that are not specific to people’s age, culture, body type, or sex. They are given the ‘cookie cut’ version of asana practice.
Where a yoga practice needs to be specific to you and include the principles of the teacher of the teachers.
So a modern yoga class with all its variations can leave the body more flexible and toned, but that is not enough that is the by-product of intimacy. When we embody the movement within the breath and the actions of receptivity and strength and bunda and pranayama there is greater relationship and intimacy.
Combined with the acceptance of You as an expression and experience of the universe, here and now with the breath. Instead of wasting time and energy thinking about getting somewhere or improving, anything, when just doing your practice is enough. the breath and here and now. When combined with acceptance and the ancient and modern understanding that you are the power of the cosmos there it is, intimacy and contentment.
Ok so the breathing exercise hopefully makes more sense than the blog.
Inhale and connect to the breath, connect to the way the breath allows you to receptive, the same way as our teachers recieved, pause with that inhalation.
Exhale and connect to the breath, connect to the way the breath is strengthening, the same way as our teachers strengthen, pause with that exhalation.
