We all have the breath.
Not everyone notices the most important things that keep us alive; breathing, drinking and eating, and relationships.
1200 million of us do not have good water close by to drink or food in the cupboard. And so it is correct to be grateful that you have these bare necessities. And it is advantageous and quality to help those !5% of the earth’s population that go to sleep hungry and thirsty. That is a very difficult thing to ponder.
When you eat do you take some time to truly appreciate your food, where it came from, how it was prepared, the taste and textures. There is good reason to offer it up before digging in.
When you drink your water do you savour it and notice how it replenishes quickly and how lost we would be without the source that is 80% of our body and does so much to cleanse and fill us up and energise us.
And when you breathe are you exposing yourself to the present, and when you watch your breath whilst practising can you feel the opportunity of new experiences. Challenging yourself by working with the breath without struggle, as you write, as you paddle for a wave, garden, work, make love, oh making love with the breath that common union, brings you into the moment.
We all have the breath. Take a few with gratitude, attention, we may be entitled to our breath but that does not mean we should take it for granted.
It is very simple to notice these important things, start with a specific physical sensation. It may not be that difficult.
