For an hour, I listened and continued to sleep, that can sometimes be my pattern. A long time to get up. Having a plan had me moving in the right direction when my feet hit the floor.
The mind and breath there from the beginning. The mind all too often given priority at that time of the day.
George Harrison was 28 when he put that album together. Down right genius or driven or on the path, in the flow or all of them, something, Krishna conscious, he was taking action. Practicing, chanting, connecting intimately, doing his duties.
Some birds you don’t hear every day, though they live in the neighborhood. Birds are funny things. The haunting sound of a butcher bird echoes through the morning, and by the long tone and volume, I can imagine the small powerful bird throwing its whole body into its duty.
Some birds are territorial as they stay around specific areas. Some birds are migratory, some birds are part time within one place, then part time on the move. Some birds’ movement patterns change with age, like fairy penguins, will stay behind as they get old and not go where the conditions will probably kill them. Afraid stay in bed little fairy penguin.
The yellow tail black cockatoo, big black birds are always on the move, tree to tree, and when flying great distances, they fly like they are drunk.
I think they have massive territories with no clear boundaries. It seems that they have patterns, and a flight pattern that sees them bounce around the sky as if they are pissed, that is big birds with noisy kids, they rise and fall in the air and go on their drunkard natural path.
That is their pattern. Australian parrots, they are a very mixed bunch from the introverted king parrots to the extroverted rainbow lorikeet full. The rainbow lorikeet are noisy and tenacious, their flight pattern are fast and direct. Maybe it is part of their city success.
Because they are everywhere in numbers in every capital city. In Hobart too. But in the mountains and the forests, the numbers are traditional. I wonder if the rainforest and mountain rainbow lorikeets are the same ones going to the balconies by the beach.
All these parrots have a lifestyle and a pattern. Whether they know it or not, they are doing their duty and that can go for us as well. But we have the ability to make conscious decisions, being able to take the long game into account and the understandings of the immediate reactions to our action (mostly).
And we have the ability to consciously be in the moment by watching the breath.
And parrots might also have that ability, they may talk but they have not told us. Not in our language. I know those big black cockatoos would tell us to stop chopping the big trees down.
To go on your path in your chosen direction is a better conscious decision.
